Making Blow Molding Lamps Actually Fit
Let’s be honest: replacing infrared lamps in PET blow molding machines is usually a headache. You’re either fighting with weird proprietary dimensions or realizing the voltage is just slightly off. It’s frustrating. That’s why we built our lamps to just work. We focused on the actual physics of the heating element and stuck to footprints that are used everywhere. The goal? A drop-in replacement that fits about 95% of the gear you’ll find on a factory floor. The deal with power and voltage Most machines run on 220V or 400V. We make sure our lamps match those loads exactly. Why? Because if you don’t, those tubes burn out way too fast. Here is the tricky part: if you cram high wattage into a short 300mm tube, you get an incredible amount of heat density. That’s great for getting your PET preforms up to temperature quickly, but it puts a lot of stress on your reflectors. Plus, if your cooling fans can’t keep up with that heat, your lamp life is going to tank. Connectors and the “secret sauce” We stick with R7s and SK15 connectors. They aren’t fancy, but they’re the industry workhorses for a reason. You can swap in our lamps without having to mess around with your existing sockets or rewire the machine. As for the glass, we use halogen-filled quartz to keep the filament stable. We also add specific coatings to the quartz to shift the infrared spectrum. Instead of just scorching the surface of the plastic, the heat actually sinks deep into the PET wall. Getting them installed Installing these is pretty mindless. Pull the old tube out, double-check the pins, and slide the new one in. Since we follow standard lengths and diameters, you won’t need to weld custom brackets or bend metal just to make it fit. You just get a steady, even heat across the preform. One quick tip:wipe the quartz clean with alcohol before you turn them on. Seriously, do it. If you leave fingerprints on the glass, those oils create hot spots. Once the lamp hits full temp, those spots can actually crack the tube. A ten-second wipe saves you from a total meltdown.
