
Making Your PET Blowing Machine Actually Work With New Lamps
If you’ve ever dealt with PET bottle blowing, you know the struggle. If the heat isn’t exactly right, the preform doesn’t hit that sweet spot—the glass transition temperature—and your bottles come out looking wrong. It’s a headache. That’s why we built our infrared lamps to just work. We wanted something you could slide into about 95% of the machines already out there without having to rebuild your entire oven. The Power Stuff Most of these machines run on high-voltage arrays to keep the heat dense. We’ve built our tubes to handle anywhere from 220V to 400V, depending on what your power rail is doing. If you’re running a high-speed line, a 2500W tube is your best bet. It ramps up fast. Really fast. You get this concentrated short-wave output that punches right through the PET wall. Just a heads-up: because it puts out so much energy, make sure your cooling fans are actually doing their job. You don’t want your oven housing overheating just because the lamps are working too well. Built to Last (and Fit) We use high-purity quartz glass because, let’s be honest, thermal shock kills cheap lamps. We also fill them with halogen to keep the filament from burning out prematurely and to keep the heat steady. But the real win is the fit. We stuck with the classics—R7s and SK15 connectors. This means the lamp actually seats firmly in the socket. No wobbling, no arcing, no sparks. And since we offer a bunch of different lengths, you won’t end up with those annoying “dead zones” where the plastic just doesn’t get hot enough. Getting Them on the Floor Usually, switching brands feels like a gamble. You wonder if the footprint is off or if you’ll have to bend the brackets to make it fit. We did the homework. We mapped out the dimensions of the big OEM brands so you can just swap them in and get back to production. These things are tough. They live in dusty, gritty factories, but that quartz envelope keeps the filament safe. One piece of advice, though: don’t try to “overclock” them. If you push the voltage past the limit to get more heat, you’re just going to fry the filament. Stick to the rated wattage, and they’ll last a long time.
