Ever pull a bottle off the line and see those annoying cloudy streaks—that pearlescence—or notice the walls are way too thin in some spots? It’s frustrating. Usually, it comes down to one thing: your preforms aren’t heating evenly. When you’ve got thermal gaps in your KHS blow molding machine, you get deformations. Simple as that. We got tired of seeing people fight with their oven settings all day, so we built a drop-in replacement quartz lamp that actually fixes the problem. Why standard lamps let you down Here is the thing about most lamps: they have “cold spots” near the ends. It’s just how they’re made. To fix this, we played around with the tungsten filament density and used high-purity quartz glass. By tightening up how the filament is wound, the heat spreads evenly across the whole tube. No more constant tweaking of the oven just to get a decent bottle. The nitty-gritty on the hardware We didn’t want you to have to modify your machines. These lamps are built to fit KHS footprints exactly. Depending on which generation of machine you’re running, we use R7s or SK15 connectors. They snap in tight, which means you don’t have to worry about arc-overs or terminals burning out. You can pick the wattage and voltage that fits your power grid. If you need fast cycle times, go for the high-wattage tubes—they pack the heat density you need. Just a heads-up: make sure your forced-air cooling can keep up. If the oven gets too hot, the quartz can stress and crack. Getting them on the floor Installation is a breeze. Since we stick to strict dimensions, these tubes just slide right into your existing holders. You get a steady heat field, and your scrap rate drops. It’s a relief. But there is one catch. Because these lamps are more intense, you have to be careful with how you handle them. Wear gloves. Seriously. If you leave fingerprints or skin oils on the quartz, those oils create hot spots. That’s the fastest way to kill a tube. Keep the glass clean, and your heat distribution will stay flat for the entire run.
