When you’re running high-speed PET blowing, you aren’t working with seconds. You’re working with milliseconds. If your lamps take too long to wake up or can’t hit that peak temperature the instant they’re needed, you’re in trouble. You end up with bottles that burst or walls that are way too thin. It’s frustrating, and it’s expensive. That’s why we built our replacement lamps to handle the absolute beat-down of a SACMI rotary cycle. The Secret is in the Heat To get the kind of heat flux these machines demand, we push the wattage density high. We’ve dialed in the voltage-to-wattage ratio so the filament hits its stride immediately. No long ramp-ups. No waiting around. This means way less scrap during startup and faster changeovers. Just a heads-up: make sure your power supplies actually match these specs. If you run these lamps under-voltage, they’ll take forever to heat up, and your cycle speed will tank. Built to Last (and Fit) We use high-purity quartz glass because standard glass bows when things get this hot. Plus, the filaments are halogen-cycled, which lets them run hotter than your average IR tube. As for the installation? It’s a breeze. We use standard R7s or Sk15 bases. You just pop the old burnt-out tube out and drop the new one in. No messing with the wiring, no fighting with the brackets. Just swap and go. A Quick Word of Caution Here’s the thing: to get the response time a SACMI machine needs, you have to use high-intensity shortwave radiation. It’s the only way. But that puts a lot of stress on your oven housing. Since these lamps are shoving massive amounts of heat into the preform, your cooling fans and airflow baffles need to be spotless. If your vents are clogged with dust, that heat has nowhere to go. It soaks back into the lamp ends and fries the electrodes. Keep everything clear, and your quartz envelopes will last a whole lot longer.
