
Getting Your Heat Right on Sidel SBO and Krones Contiform Lines
Let’s be honest: keeping your heat consistent in PET blow molding is basically a constant fight. You’re battling energy loss on one side and the annoyance of lamps burning out on the other. That’s why we built the Sidel SBO 2002406262 replacement lamp. It’s all about hitting those exact infrared wavelengths. You want the preforms soft enough to shape, but not so hot that you’re scorching the plastic. The heat side of things These lamps pack a punch. They run at high wattages because you need that heat to transfer now. We make sure these tubes fit the OEM footprints exactly—no awkward gaps or “making it work.” When you fire up a high-voltage halogen tube, you get a concentrated blast of heat. It pushes the preform to its glass transition temperature in a matter of seconds. But here’s a tip: keep an eye on your power supply. If your voltage spikes, those filaments are going to pop way sooner than they should. Built to take the heat We use heavy-wall quartz glass for a reason. These things go from cold to 1000°C and back again, over and over. Most glass would just shatter under that kind of thermal shock. We also use R7s or Sk15 connectors to keep everything snug. If the fit is loose, you get arcing. And arcing is a nightmare—it eats your sockets and kills the lamp. Some of our versions even have a special coating. This shifts the IR spectrum so the energy actually hits the PET material instead of just heating up the oven walls. It’s just smarter. Making it work on the floor These are simple drop-in replacements for your Krones Contiform or Sidel SBO lines. You won’t need to mess with your wiring. But a word of caution: high-density lamps put a lot more pressure on your cooling fans. If your vents are clogged with dust, the oven gets too hot, and your lamps will burn out faster. While you’re swapping a lamp, do yourself a favor and wipe down the reflectors. It takes a second, but it keeps your thermal efficiency where it needs to be.
