The nitty-gritty on power We don’t mess around with the specs. We mirror the electrical and physical footprint of the SMF lamps exactly. Why? Because if the wattage or voltage is even slightly off, you’re looking at lamps that burn out way too fast. Now, here is a pro tip: these high-wattage shortwave lamps pump out a ton of thermal energy. It’s what gets your preforms ready fast, but it puts a lot of stress on the quartz. If your cooling fans are clogged with dust or just plain dying, these lamps are going to overheat and pop. Keep those fans clean. Quartz that actually lasts We use high-purity quartz glass because it can handle the “thermal shock” of cycling on and off without cracking. We also stick to standard industrial connectors (like R7s), so you can wire them up using the sockets you already have. We also spend a lot of time on the spectral output. We want the halogen filament to match the absorption rate of your PET resin perfectly. If it doesn’t, you get “cold spots” in the preform.
